Erik Hoedl is a founding partner at Greenlake Legal.
He regularly advises Austrian and international banks, financial institutions and funds on a broad spectrum of financial transactions ranging from senior unsecured to complexly structured transactions, both domestic and cross-border. Moreover, he acts for corporate clients in various industry sectors advising them on all kinds of their financings.
Erik has also extensive experience in the field of restructuring and insolvency and has been involved in some of the largest solvent and insolvent restructurings and insolvencies in Austria, acting both for creditors as well as for debtors.
In addition, he regularly advises clients on structuring and exploiting special situations and special opportunities, such as distressed debt transactions, litigation financing and claims trading, and on unprecedented special projects.
Besides his large practical experience, Erik is also a lecturer at the University of Vienna (reading “Business Restructuring”), at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (reading “International Finance Transactions”) and at the Danube University Krems (reading “Mortgage Business”).
He also contributes to one of the standard Austrian legal commentaries on civil law and is regularly cited by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Austria.
Erik has been active as a finance lawyer for more than 10 years. Before founding Greenlake Legal, he worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Vienna and Amsterdam for 6 years, and for a renowned Austrian law firm for a total of more than 2.5 years.
He holds two law degrees from the University of Vienna (Mag. iur.; Dr. iur.).
Erik grew up in Germany.
